
In 1882, Italy joined the alliance of Germany and Austria-Hungary, thus the Triple Alliance was formed. Eventually, Italy lost to France, so they sought support from other countries.Italy and France fought over colonial reign in Tunisia for quite a time.However, Germany and Austria-Hungary shared the same dislike of Russia this united them.The formation of the Dual Alliance was interesting, even the fact that Germany and Austria-Hungary shared similar cultures their opposing political interests had resulted in the Austro-Prussian War in the past.Otto von Bismarck planned to build a system of alliances to prevent or limit war.The Dual Alliance already existed between Germany and Austria-Hungary it was formed on October 7, 1879.Eventually, Italy betrayed the Triple Alliance, and was found to have been secretly negotiating with France all along.In 1915, when World War I broke out and Italy entered the war, Italy opposed Germany and Austria-Hungary.The formation of the Triple Alliance and Triple Entente would eventually lead up to the First World War.The formation of the Triple Alliance called for the formation of the opposing Triple Entente in 1907: the alliance of France, Russia, and the United Kingdom.


Not only did he unite Germany, but he also commanded the Triple Alliance.
